Virgin media price up 11% only two months into contract!

Moved our phone and broadband from Sky to Virgin about two months ago. Took an 18 month contract at £25.99 for the first twelve months and then £30.99 a month after that.
Just had a letter to say it's going up £3 a month from Feb!
That's 11.5% on the price we were meant to pay for the first twelve months, and still 9.7% on the price for the rest of the contract.
How can they advertise a price for an 18 month contract and put it up by this much when we're just two months into it?
I know the answer - the T&Cs will allow them to increase our price. This just seems like a big jump very early in our contract.
Is there any point calling them and arguing that they sold me a particular price? Again, suspect I already know the answer.

No - because they never sold it to you for a set price. You just assumed that. Their letter also told you how to cancel, so if you don't want to pay, you have 30 days to give notice.
You can't say fairer then that.0 -
Ah, apologies. I hadn't realised we could cancel. I thought were were trapped in our 18 month contract.
I didn't assume we had a fixed price. I know about the T&Cs. It does grate though when their marketing says "£25.99 a month for 12 months" (in those words) when that's patently untrue.0 -
Find out what deal sky will do.
Yes it is worth ring them up, press the button for leaving, be polite and say your thinking of leaving,
and see if they will do you a deal.0 -
Ok, cheers, can't hurt to phone them and see if I can avoid a bit of the increase at least.0
