A cashback site I use pays you more if you take payment as Amazon vouchers. I don't pay an annual fee to the cashback site (don't earn enough to make it worth paying) so only get an extra 2%. That means every £10 I 'earn' is either £10 into my bank or £10.20 as Amazon vouchers. I take the Amazon vouchers too, and mostly use them to buy second hand DVDs.

How do you get the 5% extra with the amazon vouchers?

This is my friend referral link for Topcashback http://www.topcashback.co.uk/ref/Cyberdosh if you haven't already joined for free. I have the free membership, so no fees or commissions. You can lift your cash as soon as it's available with no minimu limit but if you look through the options when cashing out, there are several vouchers available with extra bonuses. Amazon gives 5% on top, so £10 cashback would = £10.50 whenever that option is available. :) Then you can even get cashback when spending your cashback voucher, depending on what category is available at the time. :D
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Finally went to the recycling centre yesterday. I did have an issue about letting something go, but did have the courage to get rid of it. The flat is looking slightly better with things decluttered. Am going to try to keep on top of sorting the flat out.

Updated the list of creams etc that needs to be used up. A few extra creams have been added to the list, but they were free. Am aiming to use up as many of the items this year. This is an area that I need to be strong and not get any more, even if they are free.

Also wrote in a notebook as to what diy work that needs to be done, so that they can be ticked of as and when completed. Still awaiting a quote for the double glazing. Phoned the guy and asked for something extra to be added on. When my Mum and I are happy with the quote we will go ahead with it. It is not a big company.

Mr A opened a superstore in my local town centre yesterday. It opened at 10am and had a very long que. Waited 35 minutes to get into the store. They had a special deal on a television and was informed that they were all sold out within the first half hour of opening. I did not buy one. Just wanted to look around to see where certain food items were. Did manage to get 2 free samples of a spray to clean your glasses and 2 glasses cloths. Gave one to my Mum and they will be used. Also got some free small cakes they were giving out.

    Debt-free and Proud!
Hello all, I've just returned from a far too expensive holiday to Switzerland. Everything was so expensive. The exchange rate wasn't that favourable either. I ended up "borrowing" a knife from breakfast so I could make butties with bread and cheese bought at the supermarket just to make it a bit cheaper. I ended up going over budget so we will, once again, need to really tighten our belts to get straight again.

I got some Sainsbugs £4 off £20 shop for 6 weeks vouchers which I'm working my way through whilst trying to clear out the freezer, in an attempt to spend less although maybe it's just swings and roundabouts...

Is it me or things are getting tougher and tougher??, and ww supposed to be out of the recession...I think the old chief of the bank of England was right, he said it would be at least 10 years before people would see any signs of improvement...but yet the government are saying things are rosey...

Every month or so, I write down our out goings to see I can shave a bit more off, it looks as though my dentist plan will have to go, and hope I can find a NHS dentist when I need one. Hubby has been very reluctant about giving up the TV license over the years.. And I still mention it, but I think it has come to the point where we will have to dust down the kids old Wii, and watch catch up TV..but know in our luck they will change the licensing laws, and even catch up will need a license...

I wouldn't cancel dental until I'd found an NHS dentist - especially if I had children to worry about as well. I got NHS when we moved here in 2001, but then he went private in 2005 and I was stuck with a plan which included DS2 who was still in school. As I went on extended sick in 2007 a local NHS was taking on, so I moved there. And not only are they still NHS, but they're just finishing up a huge extension (took over the property next door) and they're taking on more NHS patients to make use of that space :)

I doubt they'll ask, but I'd just say no. It's not as if you're trying to swap from another NHS dentist.

I don't know if things are getting tougher financially for other people but for once, I feel quite secure and am better off than I was a couple of years ago. I think the fact I'm in a more frugal mindset, I've no debts anymore and a promotion at work which meant a small pay rise have certainly helped and cover the increases in the cost of living.

But then we don't have kids. I know a lot of my friends who are finding the cost of having children has increased enormously - the cost of childcare, clothing esp. school uniforms and keeping them occupied in school holidays have all gone up. It's also easier to cut corners on food shopping when you've just adults to feed but you can't feed your children smart price beans on toast for a week if money's tight one week...
