Not doing a budget but have possibly got OH on board as he is slowly beginning to realise that he doesn't 'need' everything - and it just junks up the place then he complains about how untidy the place looks - eh what?
May try and work on £5k per year just household bills, food utilities car and clothes - I think.

Hi All
I tend to be a lurker on the forums as I marvel in all the different ways people save/ sort out debts etc. I am still trying to decide on which is the best challenge for me to do so am dabbling at the minute. I have bagged a great bargain today ( and I did ask myself do i need it, will I use it before buying)
I was in Morrisons and noticed loads of meat was reduced, I guess all the xmas feasting has meant people aren't out buying!! Anyway the packs of mince, diced beef and whole chickens were all reduced to £1.99. Usually they would be £4 each or 3 for £10. at the till it also deducted the £2 that it would have done for the 3 for £10 offer so in effect I got 3 packs of meat for £3.98!! Needless to say I have stocked up for the freezer as this will help massively with my budgeting for food. I follow Slimming world so am always using extra lean mince.Overdraft 1 £750- reduce by £50 per month

@ Carbootcrazy - wow what a strain you must be under. I sympathise with you. I can't imagine how it must feel having such a big secret from your OH & having to put food on the table as though everything is fine. You sound pretty ok about the situation though overall? Obviously you want that debt gone ASAP I'm sure but glad you are not panicking (visibly?) Good luck with your frugal year. Bob" Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

hello I spent £30 today on reduced toiletries but that means we are all stocked up for the month and I have some presents towards birthdays or even next Xmas and my stock pile looks quite healthy my first thing to sort was electric and gas so phoned up im on exactly the same as now and after three months they are giving me love to shop vouchers im in a contract for a year but my logic is prices go up and I will get vouchers and it wont cost me a thing so hoping I don't shoot myself in the foot and prices plunge down but at least its for a year and I can adjust it thenoct 2015 grocery challenge £183/£2360

Hi I would like to join this year please. I am on a tight budget while I keep looking for a "dream job" which is more joyful than stressful.
The total budget is £15,600 with £500 left as a contingency fund. Most of this is direct debits for all rent/household costs but also a saving element of £100pm for yearly expenses for my campervan.
The cash spending which I will have to stick to breaks down into £370pm:
food £120
self (allowable splurges so I don't go crazy) £50
diesel £100
yearly spending on holidays/presents/clothes etc. £100
Good Luck everyone!Debt Free. Have my Van.Find dream
Frugal 2016 Target @£400 per month
Month 1 £400/£400 Total of 6 Months: £/£2400
Food £0/£120 pm Diesel £0/£100 Me/DD £0/£80 Yearly (clothes/holidays/presents) £0/£100
It's not the end, it's the journey and how we travelled.0 -
Ten pounds a month saved on my phone contract (used for personal and work) by calling Orange / EE and asking them to assess my actual usage versus my package allowance. They were quite happy to drop the price as I'd been on the higher package for six months.
That's £120 a year saved which is a good start.MSE-ing since 20070 -
I am new to MSE but am obsessed with trying to find ways to be frugal. This thread is right up my street and I hope you'll have me!! I look forward to learning new ways and sharing my own ways of frugality!!0

.....but what happens is, i cook a few things, and everyone wants to eat some there and then including me lol. so i only end up with one for two servings for the freezer....
You'll have to cook larger pots of stuff ........:rotfl:
for me to do 'extreme frugalling' this year, i need to buy more beef and chicken from the supermarkets.. which i am ethically against, plus its not as tasty as stuff from the butchers... so this is prob being frugal will come into its own.
I agree with you about the beef but find the chicken thighs and breasts ok in A*di and the lamb legs in Morrys are good
.
Hope you all enjoying the weekend
