These prices amaze me. People pay those prices as insurance against something that is not likely to happen. I've been driving since 1968 & have never used or even needed their services. I must've saved a mint.

When we were sorting out my late father-in-law's affairs we found he had a current account that charged £13 a month & the only useful perk was AA membership. He obviously didn't know this as he also paid £150 a year to the AA!
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.

It's a combination of probability, impact and risk appetite and all of that is a function of your driving habits.

In my case, I drive older cars, spend a lot of time on motorways and drive on mainland Europe at least 3 times per year so the cost of a breakdown could be significant.

I've used cover twice, including having my motorcycle carried back from the Netherlands.

Having said all that, I agree with you that the prices are getting crazy and I don't know much of that is a function of the main breakdown services now being owned by venture capitalists.

I am with ADAC about £90 for full european cover. If I breakdown I phone Germany and they send the AA. Be interesting to know if I get any less priority than AA customers. I think ADAC are reluctant to do long recoveries if the car can be fixed which sounds reasonable to me (until I get a silly bill from a garage for a job that would have costed me peanuts).

Yes you would. Non or partner members have lowest priority. With Vulnerable, Gold/Silver Members then Yellow members being higher.
