Although it is normally accepted that occupants should be responsible for the running costs it is not unreasonable for an estate to contribute.
There would be costs if empty anyway.
If trying to sell over the winter you would need to have utilities and probably heating.
An occupied place is probably more secure.
An occupied place can be easier to sell.
If there is a will with named executor then they can begin the selling process.
I would set out a plan, try to sell immediately or perhaps wait for the spring period.
Do the preparation staging work get the EA involved even if delaying a couple of months.
Consider ways to maximise the value of the place, lodgers may be a sensible option to share/cover the costs esp0ecialy if a delay is planned.0 -

3 bedroom house- one person- sounds like a tenant required!
No room at the moment, when Gran had to live downstairs the house got turned upside down, dining room was moved into the lounge and lounge upstairs into her bedroom so Gran could sleep in the dining room.
The dining table and chairs are back in the dining room as the hospital bed and care equipment were taken back and the lounge looks like a lounge now the rugs are back in place (trips and falls).:female: When Life Gives You Lemons, Make Lemonade!

Thank you to everyone who read and responded to my small essay.
Now that the funeral and Christmas festivities are over my brain is starting to think clearly again.
I have written a list of my outgoings before bills and if I stop my WWF direct debit I save £36 a year, I still lose half my monthly wage to the total bills but hey ho. I meant to put £40 a week to live on rather than feed myself but I should be alright as long as I don't do anything stupid.
Trying to work out how much I have to pay out, live on and can try to put aside for deposit/rent when I have to move out is trickier than I thought.:female: When Life Gives You Lemons, Make Lemonade!
