3 months free breakdown cover-what's the catch?
Just curious-had a conversation with Swinton today and was offered the cheapest breakdown quote I found so far with nothing to pay for 3 months, option to cancel at any point up to 15th March 2015 without penalty..
Should I be wary of anything here or is it just Swinton using a speculative method hoping I'll forget to cancel or is there something sneaky lurking in the small print?

They've probably got your bank details and will auto renewal upon the end of the 3 month period. If you don't want to continue, make sure you call them in good time and cancel. Back it up in writing too. They've been known for their sharp practices in the past.0

Well nothing sneaky about it really, after the 3 months, you pay for the remaining 9 months or cancel, chances are you may not use it in the 3 months, so the time beyond that you are obviously not covered and and have to sort your own cover out if required.0 -
Do you have to pay the balance if you call them out in the first 3 months?
You can only cancel on the 30th February, Between 11:59pm and midnight whilst standing on one leg and barking like a dog.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Good question.
This is exaclty why I asked on here!:j0 -
Without insider knowledge I would strongly suspect its to get people to get people to sign up for the 3 month free trial and forget to cancel. Swintons have always been "good" at cross selling things and will play heavily on the fact you can cancel for free knowing a good proportion will not remember to cancel.
Wouldnt be surprised if you called to cancel a couple of weeks early if they didnt try and persuade you to leave it running for the rest of the free period and call back again on the last day again hoping you forget in the meantime0 -
how much was the quote and what cover ?0

£16.00. For person cover so any car for both me and mrs, including home start each, plus overnight stay cover but can't remember how much, max 4 call outs per year.
Must be cheaper out there but i'll take it for 3 months and have it in diary to cancel 1st March.:j0
