Notifying DLA of changes

I think I already know the answer but..
I had some test results back from my new specialist this week. I have an urgent hospital appt about them tomorrow as they've thrown up some issues.
The first is around my existing as yet undiagnosed neuro condition they have yet another 'theory' on the diagnosis but I need a nerve biopsy sometime next year to confirm it.
The second is I have grossly elevated thyroid results and something else is low which according to my GP means I will be put on thyroid tablets tomorrow and diagnosed with under-active thyroid.
Do I need to notify DLA of these changes? Obviously I will if my condition improves/detoriorates but do I need to tell them about the theoretical diagnosis and/or the new thyroid condition which is not related to the condition that causes my DLA claim?
I used to tell them religiously about everything but gave up in the end because my meds changed that frequently I was writing to them weekly and never got any sort of response.

No you don't have to tell them but if you do they may tell you to apply for PIP. If it was me i'd leave well alone.

That was my thoughts. I only had my medical for DLA a year ago and it took 12 months to be sorted out that time so I'm not keen to go hurtling into PIP unless I have to

If, of course, you do end up going into hospital for an overnight stay or longer - you need to notify them.
  • - the rule is that DLA payment will be suspended after 28 days in hospital
    - or a total of 28 days where the periods are separated by less than 28 days
    - the day you enter the hospital and the day you leave do not count towards the total

Its very unlikely that the DWP will take any action unless you accrue the 28 [adult] days, for other associated non-DLA benefits see here. Hope this helps.
