Britannia Parking Parking Charge Notice

Sorry for starting a new posting about Britannia Parking PCNs,but looking through the threads and the Stickies, I could not find an answer that answers my issue. The Stickies only seem to refer to parking tickets and over staying in car parks. There was no parking ticket, or overstay as the car park was a fixed fee for the whole day.
I parked at a train station, in a car park, that was operated by Britannia Parking Ltd. The car park is covered by ANPR cameras on entry and exit. Long story short - the car was parked up and left for the majority of the day whilst my party travelled on the train, returning that evening. We paid at the machine on return as was directed on the signs. We specifically had to identify our car from the ANPR photo that was displayed on the pay machine's screen. I thought that was the end of the matter, however I have today received a PCN from Britannia Parking stating that I left without paying. I have my wife as witness that I paid and that the screen stated that the process was complete. I now have a PCN for £85, reduced to £50 if I pay within 14 days. I have e-mailed Britannia stating that I am appealing their PCN and requested a copy of any CCTV footage that they have covering the payment machines for the period that I would have paid the parking charge. I have also requested a POPLA reference number.
My fear is that if they do not have or do not provide the CCTV footage to back up my appeal, it is then my word against theirs that I paid on return. Having looked at the POPLA website, this does not seem to be a legimate reason for appeal. I know the burden is on them to prove that I did not pay the parking fee, however it just seems that the appeals process does not cover this eventuality.
This just seems that the PPCs have just hit on a new way to scam motorists as motorists will not have any proof that they have paid the parking fees.
Can anyone provide any further advice on my situation?
Thank you.

Wait and see what they reply with, and beat them at POPLA as the charge is not a Genuine Pre-estimate of Loss.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
