Heh heh! SAP, when well configured, is actually a solution to having myriad unsupported, undocumented skunk tools running through the business. I'd be somewhat concerned that it's causing those symptoms in your company - it may have clunky edges but they can usually be customised without upsetting the actually rather robust codebase (giving actually pretty robust and accurate reporting).

Have you got an account manager you can talk to? There may well be some simple optimisations that can reduce that network drag. The idea of rebooting a database server monthly is just scary, suggesting there's another, far bigger problem beneath which I'd strongly suggest looking into!

Totally agree with this and we have one of the largest deployments of SAP in the world!
