Closing Bank Accounts and getting old statements

Hi, just switched to First Direct from Nationwide, FD closed the Nationwide current account but I still have a nationwide savings account and online access.
I needed last three months bank statements from Nationwide from my current account, but now the current account is closed they can no longer be seen on line.
they want to charge me £5 for the statements.
Do they not have a duty to allow me access to at leas the last 12 months?
Seems like most banks have archived statements if you still have online access even if your account is closed.
Any laws I can quote.
Thanks
Paul

No, they don't.captainando wrote: »...Do they not have a duty to allow me access to at leas the last 12 months?
Which ones? And what if it was the only account with this bank?Seems like most banks have archived statements if you still have online access even if your account is closed.0 -
I don't quite understand why you didn't print off all the material you wanted before you entered into a switch agreement? The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0

If you did not print your own copies or keep them in a digital format then it is reasonable for a charge to be levied.0

Gosh! I wish that I'd read your post yesterday. I had two FlexDirects close overnight - and I forgot to download the latest transactions.
A good reason not to go paper-free, I guess, as they assure me that I will receive my final, paper, statement as part of the closing documentation - plus, of course, I do have all of the previous paper ones.0
