Hi, :hello:
I am going away to Looe in cornwall for a fortnight in August with my OH & three children (7,6 & 4) in a tourer. We have never been before and so am trying to come up with ideas for cheap days out in case the weather isn't that great. I am currently praying for good weather so that we can spend everyday on the beach or by the pool.
Any ideas would be gratefully recieved, though the cheaper the better.
Thanks in advance.

Not too much indoorsy stuff in Cornwall.
Try:
Eden Project
National Maritime Museum in Falmouth
Goonhilly Satellite StationThe man without a signature.0 -
http://www.collifordlakepark.com/lake.php?mode=contact is a good place for children that age, has indoor and outdoor things to do and a lovely walk around the lake with deer and other animals to see. Take a picnic. It is about 40 mins from Looe and right next to the A30. The Eden project will probably be a bit much for them.0

Hi Mummyofthree! We have just come back from Looe 1st week hell rain, rain & more rain 2nd week hot sunny weather.
We have had 3 hols in Looe started 6 years ago when kids were simmilar age to yours also camped 2nd & 3rd times caravan.
There is not a great deal to do indoors around Looe if it rains but normaly its not wet for to long.
When smaller we would as a special treat go to Plymouth to see a movie car park out side cinima is free so only tickt price required. But I would advise you take some of your own popcorn, sweets ect.We do.Got Hubby a cup of tea in cinima 1.80 tubs of popcorn were 3.00+.
Ammuzment arcade has a small bowilng ally 2.00 per player even 4 year old can do it.Allow 50p each for slots or my personal fave hammer game.
On dry non beach days crabbing of the dock side is very popular.
Tourrist information will have a list of events going on some are free others small cost ours did a beach search and ramble this year 2.50 a team.(to be honest my two were a bit on the old 12/15 side but still enjoyed it).
The site your staying on will have info packs a lot of places offer a discount if you take the leaflet along.
Best outing this year was to Silver City a bit of a pig to find but worth it.It is a wild west museum and show poney ride 2.00,shooting range 3.00 very ammusing staff who like kids Museum is a bit dusty but full of Oh!I remember that/him moments for the grown ups.Do get there before 12.30 and take a packed lunch (food on site very expensive) show starts at 1.00.
Price family ticket 22.00 however if you take the leaflet from the info pack 1 child free with 2 paying adults + 1 paying child = 19.00 sure the littlest is free under 5s usualy are.
Regret no real swimming pools with flume ect near looe.
Hope this is not to boring or scary our kids loved it the first two times we went and beged to go back. This year as there older they just required a bit more stimulation. Some of the best lessons we ever learn,we learn from our mistakes and failures.the error of the past is the success and wisdom of the future. :j0 -
Lizard Point I think is a must go place, the most southernly point, it is less commercial than Lands End, which is also worth a look.
In Hayle you could try the flamingo zoo ?? ( not sure on name) it has a good playground for the kids and from memory did not cost that much.0 -

Think you mean Paradise Park in hayle, its a bird conservation park, but also has a massive indoor play area, called the jungle barn. I take my kids down there all the time just for the jungle barn as they love it in there. Unfortunately it is pricey, so make sure you spend the whole day there to get your moneys worth. You can get a return ticket cheaper whilst your there, if you want to come back again. We always do this, as it works out so much cheaper to go.
Heres the website: http://www.paradisepark.org.uk/index2.htm
We dont really have much to do in Cornwall, its mostly beaches and countryside walks, so if your into that great, but if not, then it can be hard to find things to entertain. The main attractions are:
Flambards theme park - Helston
Paradise Park - Hayle
Eden Project - St Austell
Newquay Zoo - Newquay
Blue reef aquarium - Newquay
Cornwall Crealy adventure park - Wadebridge
There are other attractions, but those above are our main ones.
Hope that helps

make sure you buy a local paper (tip from relatives who live there) as sometimes there are money off coupons for various attractions, also your holiday site will probably give you a pack with leaflets about the attractions (if not the reception should have them) which sometimes have vouchers too.
Not enough time now I expect but also some of the local attraction tickets can be purchased through tesco clubcard deals (eden project, goonhilly and flambards) http://www.tesco.com/clubcard/deals/browse.aspx?N=4294967294+4294966498+4294967264
ps hope you have/had a lovely time (just noticed the date of the original post)finally debt free and want to keep it that way!!0 -
I would highly recommend Morrells Bistro on higher market street Looe, the food is fantastic, we holiday in Looe twice a year and eat there as much as we can, not :rotfl::jopen on Tuesdays0

*trawls brain back through years upon years of going to Cornwall as a child*
National Seal Sanctuary at Gweek near Helston - mostly outside and quite a walk from the car park, but not a bad day out especially if your children like animals/sea life. Currently doing 2 for 1 on website: http://www.sealsanctuary.co.uk/ Also has ponies, sheep, goats and otters.
If it's still going when you go there, World In Miniature at Goonhavern is lots of fun - basically various world landmarks (Buckingham Palace, Taj Mahal etc) but small, and it has a Wild West section and a 3-D cinema as well. I have heard rumours it is closing though...
Eden Project is OK but quite expensive, probably more interesting now the plants have grown a bit.
I'd agree with Paradise Park as well, granted it is not cheap but if your kids like animals then they will love it. They also have an Explorers quiz for slightly older children.
Also, DairyLand Farmworld - another one that's very animal-centric but good for all weather as they have a big indoor ball pool and soft play area. There's also stuff like watching cows being milked and that sort of thing as well. Kids under 3ft go free: http://www.dairylandfarmworld.com/
