Triage has "Forced" me to take a job

  • Triage will probably be paid at least £1000 by DWP if you get a job and they have a successful 'outcome'. They are not in business to help people, they are in business to make money for themselves and their 'advisors' are under pressure to achieve 'outcomes'.

  • First of all, thanks to everybody who has replied to my post.

I called the social on the main hotline. Spoke to a woman and she agreed completely with me about what has happened is not correct. She told me to contact my local job centre and speak to the DEA that I had seen in August, so I called my local job centre straight away.

I was told by the person that answered the phone that, Mr ******** was busy and asked what I was calling about. I explained my situation and she said ok, I will get him to call you back within the next hour. Waited all morning and got no call. I called back at 2pm and asked for Mr ********* again. I was asked again what I was wanting. Explained my situation to this different woman and she said "I will defo make sure he calls you back between 4 and 5pm". He never did.

ROBOTROBO: I get the lowest rate of DLA which is £21.55. I am not allowed to drive, (been deemed unfit by the DVLA) and have been awarded a scotland bus buss but as I have already mentioned, the bus service at this end of town does not start early anymore. I would have to get a taxi which could cost between £12 and £15 (although if you bear me with, I can ask my brother the exact cost when I see him tomorrow as he is a taxi driver) So, for argument sake, the £60 in taxi fares would cost more than my DLA rate

BLL78: When I said that she said "I know you have did this kind of work before". I meant to say that she said, I know you have did factory work before. Sorry for the confusing! I never worded that correctly. Sorry. However, that is just ridiculous to say that all factory jobs are the same. That is like saying, all office jobs are the same. She also said "it would just be a case of packing fish into boxes"

I'm surprised they think fish packing and in I presume very cold temperatures is suitable for someone on DLA and deemed unfit for work.... don't be bullied all they care about is the big fat bonus...don't give them the satisfaction of finding you any job...look for yourself if and when you feel well enough.
  • Poppie68: Thanks for your advice.

I wonder if I will get a call from the fish factory at 5am or 6am asking me why I am late for work....

I will defo appeal this if I get any letters from the DWP saying they are stopping my benefit due to me not going to "MY" new job

Packing fish! It doesn't seem to me like they've taken your health needs into consideration at all. It would appear on the face of it to be a physical job.

I don't claim ESA so am not an expert but if it is possible I'd send a letter tomorrow (recorded) sating all whats happened just in case the Job centre have no records of your calls.

Don't give them chance to stop your benefit... if possible go down to the JC if you can't get to speak to your advisor ask to speak to the manager and explain it to them.
  • Aberdeenlad, as a few have said on here, I would give them a ring tomorrow and tell them that you genuinely cannot take that job as it won't suit you, as your disability will make it hard for you to do it.

And tell them that there appears to be some misunderstanding, as you have been told you don't need to look for work right now.
No debt left now. Saved £111 in our sealed pot last year. And £272.13 this year! Also we have £2300 in savings. :j

    SPC #468 :D Target £250 for 2015.

Deemed unfit for work does not mean unfit for work.
Just like being deemed fit for work does not mean fit for work.

and get DLA mobility and daily living

surely you can get to work !, thats why you get mobility, if you have not got a car on mobility thats what the money is for to get you around & to work on the bus or taxis.

The OP may not be able to get there if they can't drive and/or there is unsuitable public transport.
