A word to the wise (well to cheats really)

I've just had to remove a cheats entries from one of my blog comps.

It was easy to spot; in my twitter feed in rapid succession two entries from people with the same surname.

A glance at their twitter accounts - they were both entering the same comps at pretty much the same time.

But the clincher was the ip address stored on rafflecopter both sets of entries came from the same one, first one lot under one name and then in rapid succession another lot under a slightly different name.

I would guess they do this on every comp - I can't imagine two entries make a fat lot of difference particularly when you can go back and enter rafflecopter daily quite legitimately.

Well now they have no entries... and I'll be looking out for that name in future.

This sort of thing stands out like a sore thumb and is easily spotted.

Just don't go there!

I think i know who this is, husband & wife?

They do it all the time on twitter

If it is them, it's about time they were outed as cheats
  • I don't want to name names as that is a minefield, but I did DM privately to advise I had spotted and removed their entries.

    Good for you :)
  • Are they a legit couple who comp at the same time? Does that count as cheating? If it's one netry per household, fair enough.
  • I think it highly unlikely that two people could be entering independently in such a synchronised way, the second set of entries started a couple of seconds after the first lot finished.

If it is the same two i am on about, and you saw their twitter feeds, i am sure you'd agree, they are cheating, i have seen some tweets about them in the past mentioning it

I see they tweet at exactly the same time and the same comps
  • my cousin and i comp from the same IP so in itself it can be innocent and course there are lots of couples who comp.
but to be synchronised is fishy imo. good on you for letting them know :)

Errmmm. Mr GB also enters a few comps- I even point him in the direction of some I know he'd like / cracking prize if it's one per person rather than 1 per household. Does this make him / me cheats?

He has his own Facebook account and enters some there too.
Was quite worried by this post as we (Strangely!) have the same surname, but he doesn't do Twitter.

What about comping couples with different surnames?

Don't most browsers only allow one user to be logged in at once? How could they tweet simultaneously unless they were actually 2 separate people comping from 2 separate devices, which doesn't break "One per person" T&Cs?

    Confused now!

you can use a twitter app where you can log in lots of accounts and RT from there, there might be a second or 2 delay between tweets but it easy to do, failing that they could schedule them to tweet at a certain time.
