Broken waste pipe, can someone check my working?

We pulled out our washing machine today, and discovered a small hole in the waste pipe. We've had mice so wondering if they've bitten it at some point. Although I think it's quite old.
I understand these are pretty easy to replace and am going to get hold of one tomorrow. It's a Miele and from what I can see they all use a standard hose size.
In the meantime, I've taken the waste pipe off and taped up the end of the extension lead that's left there, just so we can be sure no more water is going to seep out during the night.
Also as long as we don't use the washing machine, I'm guessing it's ok to leave the waste pipe off for the day until I get a new one?
Last question, should I turn off the electrics to the washing machine? I haven't done so and guessing there's no need to?
If someone could just check I've not done anything really dumb here I'd be super grateful!

Thanks all, just really good to get confirmation. Not super confident with this stuff..
One more qu - I'm in London - is it likely to be quite easy to get a replacement pipe and where's the best place to go for something like that? I should be going past a plumbing supplies place tomorrow and guessing that'd be a good bet?0 -
If you have a Screwfix nearby, they usually sell them.0
