Hot water not very hot

Options
Hi,

I have a Modena c he Ferroli boiler, fairly new.

The Domestic Hot Water is set at 55c but when I run the water it's coming out at 43c and it's not even hot enough for a bath.

55c is the highest I can set it, so anyone any ideas what could be wrong?

Nowt wrong with it, 'tis the low incoming water temperature which the boiler is fighting against. Turn the tap to a slower flow and you'll get hotter water.

If I put my hand under the bath tap the water never felt particularly hot but when the bath was full it was too hot and needed cooling with cold water. Have you tried filling the bath?.

Check to see if there's a valve on the inlet to the boiler. If there is, turn it down a bit at a time until the water is acceptably hot. Failing that, just don't turn the hot tap on full.

At this time of year, the incoming mains water is really cold, and the boiler just can't heat it up as fast as you want. It may be even worse in January. By next summer, you'll be getting really hot water again.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

Combis..who'd have em... Have you had someone out to check it and/or service it?
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

Lol, it worked. Turned the tap down a bit and bingo! 10 degrees hotter at 55.
I know i'm a bit thick at times but I never knew that.
    You gotta laugh!

    Thanks dude
  • Just one more thing.

I just struggle with boilers as I'm a bit thick!

When the cold water enters the system, how the heck does the boiler heat the water so quick?

I understood it when I had a hot water tank as it was obviously heating the cold water like a kettle I thought, but just can't understand this new boiler.
    Simply amazing!

You know that thread where folk put their "things that amaze me", well this is one of mine. I think Martin's was "that Aeroplanes actually fly"
Mine's "That Boilers can heat water in a micro second"

    I also don't understand....

Flames heat up the water as it passes through a heat exchanger

It is in effect an instantaneous water heater.

The boiler puts full effort, scorching in effect, into heating the slow flow of water.

The flow governs the output temp and the volumetric temp.

On average the boiler will give 20% more input into HW than it will into heating the house when required, that's the principal, supply on demand.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
