Meter broken so happy days?

My gas meter failed a couple of years ago and I didn't notice for several months, so it was stuck on the same reading.
After nPower replaced it, I received a bill that was twice what it should have been, as they'd calculated the usage incorrectly (the majority of the 'stuck' period was in the summer when I'd used next to no gas, but their calculation assumed that I use the same amount of gas each day throughout the year and thus they did 'gas per day' x 'number of stuck days').
A quick call to nPower got it sorted and they offered to halve it straight away, which roughly tallied with what I'd expected it to be.
So, don't anticipate a free lunch! (unless Scottish Power really are going to waive it).0 -
I've emailed Scottish Power and asked them to clarify how they plan to charge me. Will let you know how they respond.0
