Estimated readings vs actual reading difference
Hi,
My flat became a sort of second home for the last three years - I went overseas for work reasons and barely returned home (less than a week per year).
My flat was empty but Scottish Power kept charging based on estimated readings. I did not pay too much attention to it, since I hoped on my return I would be able to give them actual readings and get the balance back.
There's a huge difference no between what they say I consumed and the actual reading, I sent them the reading, but they still billed me on their estimation... what should I do?
Many thanks!

Welcome to the forum.
Where there is a large discrepancy between the last estimated meter reading and an actual reading(by yourself or meter reader) the computer program 'thinks' it is a mistake and ignores the actual reading and uses another estimated reading.
It will carry on doing this until there is human intervention. You need to contact them and explain the situation.0 -
Just noticed it is Scottish Power! They are having all sorts of problems at the moment and people are waiting hours on the phone - it may be better to send them an email.0

I called twice in the last couple of months and had wait times of two and a half minutes and under a minute, the latter by calling at 8.01 am0
