Ebay buyer wanted to cancel bid then refused cancellation!

Sold something on Ebay this week and the buyer messaged me to say she hadn't read the listing properly and she didn't now want the item.
I tried to be accommodating by putting in a cancellation request for the sale and now Ebay have messaged me to say she's refused the request so I am still liable for the exit fees!
I've looked on the item's sold listing and of course the option to "Resolve a problem" is no longer there. I've messaged the buyer - so far no reply. Having refused the request can she now agree to it anyway?
If she doesn't respond anyone know what I can do next?

Yes I did think of that - I'll have a go when it'll let me- after tomorrow - and see what happens- the case is closed now so I don't have any hopes really!
Just never encountered anything so strange before!

As a seller it is only possible to open one case, so as a mutual was opened it is not now possible to do an NPB. A mutual is always a gamble, unfortunately this time it didn't pay off.

Always worth trying eBay though , especially if the message was very clear about wanting to cancel.

Thanks, yes I, all messages were through Ebay and the buyer asked to cancel - so I may message them and see.

Surprisingly, the Ebay system has just allowed me to open a NPB action! We'll see what happens!
  • I've had something similar too this week except when I finally got an option to cancel just seconds earlier before I had triple checked and went to do it a new bid came in.... Then finally had a few more bids and now had a different bidder win but four days later no contact, no reply and no payment....

This week seems bad for me- several people have failed to pay saying things like they didn't understand what the item was (then why bid?) and they'd had to look up a word in the dictionary!
Seems in the run up to Christmas, most of my problems are coming from buyers in the UK who are not English speakers in the main - and the lure of a potential Christmas present for 99p (yes really, these were auctions for knitting patterns starting at 99p!) is too strong!
