GHD...Grrrr

I'm sorry to do this but I need to vent last February 2013 I bought a GHD Air Hairdryer as a treat for myself. I have had many pairs of their straighteners through the years and considered them the best brand in that particular market.

However, a month ago my £80 hairdryer stopped blowing hot air and when I got in touch with them to fix it they told me it costs more money to fix the product than the actual manufacturing itself and that it only had a one year warranty so that's that. I'm furious.

They told me they'd give me a discounted one but I'm not interested I have had cheaper hairdryers in the past that have lasted me for years. I don't spend £80 on a state of the art item for it to break less than two years later. Also in the summer my GHD candy straighteners broke also but luckily they got replaced.

I just feel like they've gotten abit big for their boots and in future I'm certainly not going to invest in anymore of their products. I've been a loyal customer for about ten years and this is how I'm treated.

Thanks but no thanks GHD! Has anyone else had a problem like this?

Where did you buy it from?
  • Your rights are with the retailer and not the manufacturer.

Assuming you didnt buy it directly from GHD then you need to get back to the company you bought it from and deal with them. As the item is over 6 months old it is up to you to prove that the fault isnt the result of either miss use by you or acceptable wear and tear.

From a personal perspective, I've found life of hair driers are massively variable. Some cheap ones last forever and others are dead within weeks and the expensive ones are no different but tend to be better whilst they do work.
