Do we really need one of these threads every time a fuel price change is announced?

Seems more like advertising for the supermarkets than genuiune consumer journalism.

Thats like asking if we really need a new thread every time a newbie joins to ask about an unfair parking charge.
The sticky is there for all to read but they start their own thread anyway :p

One would expect an MSE staff member to have more knowledge of MSE forums though. ;)

Of course it is advertising, just wish they would give us a day or so notice when the price is going up. I would be much happier.
  • Where I fill up with LPG has not seen any drop in the cost of filling up. Although they have dropped the price of Diesel and unleaded. Not sure why this is. In belfast the price of LPG is now 59.9p a litre where it is 69.9p a litre at Sainsbury Taunton
  • Since writing this news story Sainsbury's, Morrisons and Tesco have all announced forthcoming price cuts - see the story for the full details: Asda to cut petrol prices again

It's winter. LPG prices usually go up in the winter because it's also used for domestic heating and they can sell it for more when more people want/need it. If it hasn't gone up, then consider that to be a bonus.

As I said on another such thread recently, a few days ago only 3 of the cheapest 10 within 15 miles of me were supermarkets and the cheapest 2 were nearly 2 pence a litre less than Asda.

It's time MSE canned the free PR they are doing for the supermarkets' uncompetitive and cosy arrangements.

I also said a few days ago that I used to reckon on France being 8 to 16 pence a litre cheaper than here for diesel, but now it is 35 pence a litre between cheapest there and cheapest here.

Diesel will probably be under a Euro a litre in Belgium France and Luxembourg by the end of the year. It should be a quid here.

Perhaps MSE should be investigating why prices here aren't dropping as fast as elsewhere.
