Looking for a bit of advice regarding a claim...
Hi all, first time poster.
I was walking to my car this morning and noticed a note on the windscreen instructing me to call someone. I immediately searched round the car and noticed the reg plate had cracked and the bumper had taken a bit of structural damage (couldn't see any cosmetic).
I drove to work and rang the number and she explained that she had reversed into me and that there were no witnesses. I have all her details.
It gets a bit tricky here. The car is on a boomerang contract from Motorpoint (basically PCP). BlackHorse own the car and I will choose to either pay the future value or give it back at the end of the contract. The car is insured with Endsleigh. Motorpoint told me when I got the car, if it needed to work done, to make sure the parts were FIAT parts (the car is a FIAT Punto).
My question is, do I do this privately without insurance companies and get the car repaired myself (doesn't look like it would cost too much) or pay my excess (£200) and let the insurance fight it out. Is it worth getting a quote from a FIAT garage? I spoke to a Motorpoint representative and they said I shouldn't do anything to the car and just inform BlackHorse, who will in turn tell me to inform my insurance company. However, I'm not sure if this is the best option.
Hoping for some advice!
Thanks

You don't need to claim off your own policy. Just tell your insurer about the incident and make it plain the third party is responsible and you are reporting this for info only
Contact the third party insurers and ask for their innocent third party claims dept.
When you tell them the circs they should be happy to deal with your claim - you will be able to get the repairs done at your choice of repairer, and the insurer should provide a replacement car whilst yours is in for repair.
You will have no excess to pay over the repair.0 -
Thank you! I didn't realise. Naivety huh.0

Would you suggest I call BlackHorse and inform them? I don't see the point, I plan to buy the car outright at the end anyway.0
