Hi, just a quick question for the future maybe. If I was working full time and paying full rent, would I still have to pay bedroom tax? Thanks in advance.

no.
bedroom tax ( spare room subsidy) isnt an extra charge. it is a reduction in housing benefit so only applies to those that claim housing benefit

And only applies to social housing0

There is no such thing as bedroom tax - there is only rent.0

even IDS would disagree with that,he calls it a spare room subsidy0 -
No. Applies to all. If I was renting privately and receiving Housing Benefit (or LHA) I would only be paid for rooms used. If I was on my own in a 2 bed house they would only pay for one.specialboy wrote: »And only applies to social housing0 -
its not the same as 'bedroom tax'No. Applies to all. If I was renting privately and receiving Housing Benefit (or LHA) I would only be paid for rooms used. If I was on my own in a 2 bed house they would only pay for one.
in private lets you get a set amount depending on your needs.
in social housing you have benefit taken off if you have a spare bedroom
sometimes, you can rent a private 2 bed for the price of 1 bed LHA.
in social housing this would never happen as benefit is reduced depending on size and not on cost

Social sector size criteria... Applies to social housing only. LHA for private tenants is worked out on your housing needs and then the local rents. They are different things entirely.
If you worked full time paying full rent then there would not be any housing to deduct "bedroom tax" from.0 -

That is not the case where a full-time worker claims housing benefit, and the majority of new housing benefit claims are from working people, bedroom tax still applies, working or not.0
