Eon 2 bills 3 days apart
Are tarrifs easier to understand now as i was billed on the 23rd of November for £112.48 then again 3 days later for £125.75 .Iwas billed 6 monthly but changed it to 3 monthly but was wondering if this generated 2 bills ,Also during the days between bills i was credited back to my bank account £222 that i was in credit after the first bill so why generate another bill after refunding my cash .The guy on the phone started going on about cubic charges for gas not the way i thought it was a standing charge then so much a kw .So could a eon rep look into this for me it may be right but need clarification .....thanks:beer:
Nice to save.

You are billed for days * daily standing charge plus kWhs used for both gas and electricity less (plus 5% VAT and less any discounts). Gas meters are either recording cubic metres or feet of gas used. 1 cu metre of gas is roughly equivalent to 11.2 kWhs.
The usual reason for raising two bills in a short space of time is down to the fact that the first bill is based on estimated readings. This triggers a response from the customer who provides actual meter readings. The energy company then issues a revised (accurate) bill.
The refund could be down to the fact that you have reached the end of your energy year. The Govt isn't keen on energy companies hanging on to customers' money. The refund is normally accompanied by a revised annual projection and amended DD.

Hi Nellybee
Couple of things I'd check.
As Hengus says, was the first bill estimated and then followed by a second bill based on accurate meter readings? It's important to make sure the second bill is to actual meter readings. If it is, you can rest assured the energy's been used.
Do you have both gas and electricity? Sorry to sound a bit obvious but sometimes, even where customers have dual fuel, they've individual account numbers for each fuel. This can lead to separate bills for gas and electricity.
Another thought, have you used the Real Time Billing tool on our website? If you have and selected create a bill instead of view balance, a bill will have been sent. This may have coincided with the next scheduled bill.
If you haven't asked for a refund it sounds like, as Hengus says, your payment arrangement has just gone through its annual review. At this point, any credit balance over a fiver is automatically refunded.
You're right about charges being based on a daily standing charge plus usage in kWh. With electricity, readings from the meter are in kWh. For gas, though, the meter measures usage in either cubic metres or in hundreds of cubic feet. This is then converted into kWh and this is what's used on bills. The calculation is shown on the bills (usually on page 2).
These are just a few thoughts Nellybee and sorry if I'm barking up the wrong tree. Drop an email to the address in my Profile if you'd like me to take a look. Happy to do this.
