Airport Lounges

Anyone had experience of Priority Pass ???

You pay a Membership Fee of £ 69 then £ 15 p/p to access Lounges

We're travelling to Australia via Dubai and Singapore standard class and fancied the idea of having the lounges - got a good deal on my Car parking at HRW so have a bit spare in the budget

Any help would be appreciated - thank you

You can often use the same lounges for around £40pp walk-up charge - so unless you plan to use them a lot and be consistently early to the airport, the pass may not offer you that much.

As well as lounge access do you get fast track through Customs, Immigration and onto the plane??
It's your money. Except if it's the governments.

There is no customs or immigration to speak of on departure from the UK (they are there but only stop specific targets). If you mean fast track security, in most cases 3rd party lounge access would not include this, at least in UK. They might have agreements at certain airports (eg No1 Traveller at Stansted), but generally not and Priority Pass does not guarantee this. Chances of it at LHR, especially T3, are very slim.

For boarding, definitely not, this is down to airline status and/or class of travel (or if you'd paid for it with some airlines).

those are the type of things that would come with airline status or class of travel and would vary significantly by airport, not something a lounge card would give

I ask because last year we decided to pay our own Business Class seats long haul for the first time since retiring.
Often traveled BC on the company, both me and the missus.

I can't say that I thought the extra cost was worth it as far as seats, meals go. We traveled BA and the seats facing each other I thought were awful

The lounge at Heathrow wasn't very good.
    The one in Singapore OK.

I did like the fast tracking though.

Will we go BC again. Funnily enough we will although it is a waste of money:o

Have Priority Pass, Airport Angel and another one that I cant remember the name of off hand but is a sub brand of PP anyway which all come for "free" with certain financial products (that have fees, at least after year 1).

The PP lounges are generally 3rd party lounges which do not tend to be as good as air line ones but still better than the main concourse. Their coverage isnt always great either, sometimes no lounges in certain terminals and/ or hours of operation arent useful. The later is particularly true if it is an airline lounge as they only operate during the hours of their own flights and so if you are on another airline you may find the lounge closed.

What is included beyond a seat and magazines is generally free drinks excluding champagne and snacks but this does vary vastly between lounges. Airline ones you can get into tend to be a little better but still not come across any like the BA lounge in LHR T5 or VS in LHR/JFK where there are full meals, cocktails etc (not accessable with PP)

Of course whether it is "worth it" is massively subjective, I won't go down that road. BA's club class is I suppose an acquired taste, and in terms of the business class seat/lounge, if you are not a very frequent business class flier there are probably better (and cheaper) biz class options than BA (e.g. Emirates, Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines, Etihad etc), though of course BA has direct flights to more destinations from the UK.

If you fly regularly and reach higher status with BA, it becomes more valuable beyond each business class flight (fast track at LHR, lounge access and priority boarding when flying economy, upgrade vouchers etc). That's a big factor in them generating loyalty.

From here, Singapore, BA is much much cheaper than the others.
SIA BC is nearly 50% more expensive than BA.
