Unfair arrears

I paid close to £7000 in a lump sum off my Halifax credit card and closed the account. I was told that any interest accrued would be sent as a bill in the post. No bill was received and the interest was put onto the following months statement. I had cancelled the direct debit so not only was it showing that I'd missed a payment but I was being charged for it. I called them and after quite a while on hold they said it was clear that I intended to close the account and that they were at fault for not sending a bill. Therefore they'd waive the amount owed and close the account properly.

Excellent, right?

Until the following month when the same happened again! I called them up and had almost exactly the same conversation with the same outcome.

I'm still waiting for it to happen this month!

I've just looked at my Experian credit report and everything is as it should be except for these two supposed missed payments. Is there any way Halifax can remove/reverse these?

I'm self employed and am currently trying to boost my credit score in order to get a mortgage, obviously something like this doesn't help at all.

Write a letter of complaint, the people on the phones can often do very little.
