This scheme - 'guess on exit' - generated charges at a rate of £1m/year and Northumbria NHS, until ParkingEye got kicked out.

By contrast 'inform-on-exit' at a different hospital run by a different parking company generated no charges for overstays.

ParkingEye would go bankrupt if they ran their systems in a way which did not entrap motorists.

I wasn't an overnight guest, although did attend a function there.

Overnight guests use the same system but pay a reduced daily rate - again I don't know how they would track this, unless they register their cars at reception.
