Double Glazing Guarantee

Hi
Hoping that someone can advise me as I feel I have not been looked after with regard to a guarantee on a UPVC conservatory recently purchased.
Initially this was supply only but I ended up using one of the companies fitters to install the units and glass. I was assured that the units and roof would be guaranteed for 10 years. The guarantee is a very small part of a terms and conditions statement I eventually received from the company - extract wording as follows......'the company undertakes to repair or replace free of charge any UPVC products manufactured by it which prove defective as a result of faulty materials for 10 years on white UPVC and 5 years on foiled UPVC. In the case of sealed units and all hardware 12 months from the date of delivery'.
In my opinion this is not good enough. The double glazed sealed glass units should be guaranteed for far longer than 12 months. The 4 metre span roof is mainly aluminium with double glazed sealed glass units. This does not seem to be covered at all here. This terms and conditions statement was emailed as an attachment after several requests and 2 months after supply. It is not signed and there is no reference to me, my property or the materials actually supplied and fitted.
Any advice appreciated.

Who made the DGU's?0

Do you have the sticky labels that were attached to the sealed units? Or if they are not warm edge spacers is there a manufacturer name on the spacer adjacent to the Kitemark number? (Hopefully they are Kitemarked, but at a 12 month guarantee perhaps not?)
If you have 10 years guarantee on an order enquiry or confirmation then challenge matters. Otherwise, unless you have a witness to the conversation, I suspect there is nothing you can do about this.
I would expect the conservatory company bought in the roof from someone like Ultraframe or Wendland. Hence they are just passing on a guarantee to you. You could try enquiries along these lines.0 -
Hi Furts
Thanks for your comments.
The company involved is Windows 2000 from Coventry and a sister companies Window Force Ltd and Direct Roofs Ltd. As far as I know all the UPVC and roof was manufactured by them.
Roof glass is made by ambiglass - it is their Ambi Blue self cleaning/clear glass. Glass in the three sets of French doors and sliding door set is Kite marked with BGL and EN12150class1 - may be a standard toughened glass mark. The glazing in the conservatory windows and cheeses is not marked as far as I can see - will check again tomorrow.
The 4 metre roof and glass is the part that really concerns me. It is mainly aluminium, albeit UPVC clad, so may or may not be included in the white UPVC part of the guarantee and I need more than a 12 month guarantee on those double glazed units that are about 2 x 1 metre.
I was told that all this material would be properly guaranteed. can't find any email proof of this although lots of material to re-check.
Any idea whether their 'white UPVC' 10 year guarantee would cover the roof. Do you think that any reputable company would only give 12 month guarantees on double glazed units.PLEASE DO NOT STEAL

Look at the profiles used for your windows and French doors. Hopefully there is an ink jet stamped manufacturers name. From this company the 10 year guarantee originates and it gets passed down the line to you. So check this out - what does it cover and what are the exclusions?
Your roof is clad with white pvc but where did this plastic come from? Hence who knows what guarantee has been transferred on that plastic? But the roof should have a guarantee. Hence research this.
I would not buy sealed units with a 12 month guarantee. To me this shows that the manufacturer has no faith in the durability of their product. If I were a building a new home these units would fail to meet the requirements, or the ethos, of the NHBC 10 year warranty.0 -
Did you get a FENSA certificate from them?0

Did you get a FENSA certificate from them?
No - no paperwork at all, not had a receipt yet although it has been promised twice.
There is a Fensa icon on their webpage which I assume means they are registered with Fensa.
Would appreciate some guidance on what I should have actually received in terms of receipt, guarantee etcPLEASE DO NOT STEAL
