Sort code query

Hello
My mum went into Nationwide with my sort code and account number from my Santander account as she was going to setup a standing order to transfer money from her account each month into mine. The lady she spoke to (and then the manager as well) both confirmed they (their system) did not recognise my sort code. I told them it over the phone just to confirm and they said it was not recognised. Not sure how my mum can setup the standing order if the branch does not recognise the number? I guess just go back and try again..?
Then when I was speaking to TSB today I gave them my sort code (and account no) for my TSB account and they said my sort code was not coming up on the system either so I had to go through the security checks to be able to talk about my account. Anyone else have problems with the sort codes recently.. ?

What happens when you type your sort code into this: http://www.paymentscouncil.org.uk/resources_and_publications/sort_code_checker/0

the paymentscouncil site certainly works well for my accounts:)0

It is possible that your sort code isn't recognised if Nationwide haven't updated their systems with the latest sort code tables.
Has your sort code changed recently?0 -

The RBS Group has an issue with recognising one of Santanders sort codes. I can't remember which one it is though, however I'll be able to tell you later.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0

Was that in branch?
When I enquired about my new bank account with TSB, all they initially asked for was my postcode. Other security questions are asked to establish who you are.
Alternatively, most people just hand over their bank card, even if you don't want to use it for a transaction. Again expect them to ask some kind of security question.
(If by telephone, obviously you'll be expected to provide your telephone password to identify yourself by)
Anyway, did they then give you your correct sort code?
You probably gave the wrong sort code for your Santander account to your mum too.0 -
Would it not be easier to conclude this thread if OP actually told us the sort codes?0

Indeed, I'd just decided to say the very same thing but you beat me to it.0 -
I suspect we'll find that the wrong details were either given or copied down. Imagine the complaints if they'd attempted to process a credit to a non-existent account.0
