It seems to me like the employer is behaving quite reasonably; they clearly have someone who cannot do the job properly (by the OP's own admission), and they really need to replace them.

If they were being nasty, the could introduce disciplinaries and warnings to cover failures to perform duties, but instead are offering the OP the option of and equivalent payout to redundancy.

But the company knows that making someone redundant means they can't take someone on into the exact same job, hence the offer.

(In reality, a company can shift roles and job specs around to give the same coverage anyway, so you they can have all of the activities covered by other people, just not all the same person. Unless they bump sombody sideways or down into that role!)

As far as PILON goes, the company has to pay the employee to put them into the same position as if they had worked their notice, therefore holiday entitlement runs to the end of the notice period regardless, as do other benefits (pension contributions, memberships, medical cover, whatever).

If I were the OP, I would try and negotiate the best deal.

However, the point about NOT RESIGNING is a good one, because if the record shows they resigned then it will affect any benefits claim.

Until a temporary job even 1 day or a trial period doesn't work, it will reset someone's access to benefits I believe

Not all doom and gloom :o

There no requirement to pay the holiday accrued during the PILON period as the company can always have the employee take that holiday if they were not paying PILON if you stayed so there is no loss.

I see what you are saying, but I think you are wrong there.

Does your employer know that you have an underactive thyroid? Have you explained the expected outcome? Mine 'went' over 20 years ago. I have regained all the muscle I lost (well within a year of treatment). My memory works as well as it ever did. When I look back and remember I was terrified of going to the doctors because I thought I had Alzheimers. But I never had one day off work. It strikes me that your employers may be acting from a position of ignorance and believe you are going to get worse not better.

Just to put it into perspective - my doctor joked that my readings were so bad they almost broke the machine.
