Its no different to the issue you would have if you had a Named Driver on your car insurance who'd been disqualified from driving but had not told you/ lied then the insurance wouldnt pay out if they drove the car and crashed it.

Its completely different. Non-travelling family members are not insured on the policy. Named drivers are insured on the policy.
  • Sorry OP I seem to have derailed the thread with a related, but unrelated question.

I think it will boil down to whether you are prepared to run the risk of being away if Gran dies or cancelling and potentially not being covered. Of course there's always the other situation of Gran dying shortly before you go away and then you have to ask yourself would you be in the frame of mind to go away on honeymoon?

Personally if the answer to any of the above is not really then I think 2016 is your best bet .....and that's speaking as someone who went on her honeymoon with her 18 month old son and no he wasn't at the wedding lol!

How does that make a difference?

The insurer is still saying that the terms are that they will not cover any pre-existing condition of non-travelling family members. They dont say only pre-existing conditions that you happen to know about.

The insurer isnt prepared to take on the risk that you may not know about every condition that every close/medium distance family member has. Plenty of people dont want everyone knowing their medical conditions as its embarrassing or because they dont want others to worry etc.

Secondly, how the hell would they be able to prove that you knew your relative had or hadnt told you? It'd be simple if that was the case, we'd all say we never knew our relatives had cancer/ heart failure etc
