We've seen VIX and VFTSE *much* higher in the last decade than it is currently.I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

Ah, sorry, I didn't realise the final comment only applied to EM.
I'm actually right on allocation for EM, but was about 8% down on developed Asia, so lobbed a grand in that direction in my SIPP.I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

I'm actually debating whether to double my allocation to Russia
A real test of contrarianism, but last time oil was down 40%, and Russian equities crashed, they rebounded 150% the next year ... Gazprom and Lukoil are up about 9-10% today
But of course Asia's where the smart money's going at the moment ... "Investing is the only place where when things go on sale, people run out of the store"0 -

Looking forward to it "dipping" 50% next week.
(Can buy lots more!)
Edit: I used some money I had tucked away for Emerging Markets, coincidentally enough - I agree it's not a good week to increase exposure there.
Ha. Look at me discussing these things like I have the first clue. I should write a column!
The only one I've increased this week has been Woodford. Still wondering how low can they go. Russia, EM, Nat resources and Japan have unsurprisingly (for the first 3 at least) been my biggest losers. Obviously they are not allocated a huge amount so I've not lost a great deal.
My xmas bonus is ready and waiting.0 -

You haven't lost anything until you sell them.My xmas bonus is ready and waiting.
Yes, I'm expecting a decent wodge of cash some time in the next two weeks (paper shares certificates in post in this day and age!) and there are certainly plenty of good homes for it right now.I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.
