Vacuum cleaner for builder dust?

Hi, we've had our house extended which has involved knocking through three external walls. The dust has got everywhere, even under all the stuff we have covered!
I was thinking of hiring an industrial vacuum cleaner - any ideas on what I should get? Or should I buy a Henry hoover?
Any tips on how to tackle the dust? It's stressing me out just seeing it cover everything!
Thanks!

We have a macallister wet/dry vacuum (from B and Q) that OH bought for DIY. It's been coping quite well with all the dust from our extension but it takes repeated efforts and getting everything painted etc for it to die down (we're not there yet

What do you have at the moment?
is the building work still ongoing or finished.
We found when renovating a house that the standard vac that we had was fine to clear up the dust, yes it took a while and perhaps the bigger bits needed to go up the vac tube but in honesty it wasnt something that our standard vac didnt cope with.
Our builder left his henry overnight several times and in honesty it was no better than ours for picking up...at the time we had a cheap vax.
the fine dust does indeed get everywhere but its unlikely to damage anything especially if it covered.
I actually found the best way to deal with the dust was to leave it a while between dusting....if you are continually wiping it away it seems to resettle quickly ,so actually itr became something I didnt obcess with too muchfrugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

Henry Hoover but you will need to mop/wipe over with a damp cloth and rinse every wipe
A Hoover alone just blows the dust aroundHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -
Henry Hoover used with a HEPA filter bag, I used to use them when Chimney Sweeping and never got any dust coming out from them - highly recommendedYou may click thanks if you found my advice useful0

My OH bought a karcher wet and dry when we bought our current house earlier this year as to not ruin my precious dyson.
So far it's coped remarkably well and has been used under the floor and to vaccum out part of the cavity wall!0 -
Something similar to this....

We got Wickes own brand workshop vac. £40 and 5 years of abuse by OH, brick rubble, nails, plaster board etc and it's still going strong. We've even used it on its 'blow' setting to unblock a blocked sink (rather than plunging)

I have a Karcher that until recently was, I think, listed in the Screwfix catalogue. It is only a couple of years old, and has been faulty, it has been rebuilt with a new motor...basically it is a heap of rubbish backed up by appalling service from Karcher.
Prior to this I was using an old Dyson, but this could not cope with the work and gradually broke up.
My Karcher is currently working, but the design is deliberately flawed to ensure rapid failure. So buy any brand of machine providing it is not a Karcher!0 -
I have an old vax wet and dry for this sort of thing. It has a huge filter which takes ages to block.0

I have an entry level Karcher - think it cost me 44.99. It is ok at picking up the dust/rubble but is annoyingly unstable - falls over very easily and requires a fiddly procedure to resume suction.
Mum and Dad have an old Henry for this purpose. Double the price but very reliable0 -
I've got an earlex wet and dry unit. Has coped with everything so far and keeps on going. Superb suction, only downside is it's a bit noisy. I don't think it would be a s powerful if it was quiet :-)Some people don't exaggerate........... They just remember big!0
