Zanussi larder fridge

Bear with me as I'm having a "senior moment" I think. We have recently had a Zanussi larder fridge delivered. The temperature controls go from 0 to 7 (past 0 is off). My question is this ; Is 0 the coldest and 7 the warmest or the other way round. The manual simply advises 4 and thats it.

if I turn my Zanussi fridge freezer (fridge dept) from 4 to 3 it seems to get cooler0

It probably gets colder as you turn it away from off and warmer as you turn it towards off.
That would be logical but maybe not necessarily always correct.
Try it for 12 hours at one extreme and then 12 hours at the other extreme and see what happens.A man walked into a car showroom.
