As the title says, I am looking for a secured loan as I cannot get a personal one but would like it in my name only even though my wife is named on the mortgage.
I need it urgently for some home improvments. I have been turned down by Hiatchi Finance & Freedom Finance.
Is it possible to get a secured loan in a single name and if so, where should I look?
I have bad credit history and according to Experian I am not on the Electrol Role even though I have lived at my property for nearly 13 years.
Thank you in advance.

I think you're likely stuck. Can your wife apply for it? Or can you delay/cut back on the home improvements?0

I thought I might be, my wife also has a bad credit history,
I am needing new windows as the ones are rotting as the house is cold.0 -
Have you actually applied to be added to the electoral roll?0

If you both have bad credit then it's unlikely you'll get any half decent rate on a secured loan. It will most likely be extortionate. Could you save up for the new windows instead?0 -
Thank you for the link.
Yes, I think thats what we will do.0 -
I do vote and get letters asking me to etc.0

If your registered to vote and get polling cards through then it sounds like you're on the electoral register already. Maybe this is something that needs correctly on your Experian credit file. Might be worth checking that Equifax and Call Credit have you showing as being registered too.0
