Credit rating and outstanding debt with Blair, Oliver & Scott Limited

Hi there,

I cleared an outstanding loan debt with Blair, Oliver and Scott which was originally an AA personal loan. However, the person who took the payment keyed in the wrong amount (£289 instead of £298) and I didn't notice it until I checked my credit report and saw it still showing as outstanding. This all took place in September 2012 but still hasn't been resolved. When I've contacted them, they've told me that it will be resolved within a few weeks but I never hear anything else.

Obviously, phoning them is a waste of time. Is there an address other than the one of their letters or can I escalate it based on the impact that it has had on my credit history? I had a job-offer withdrawn last year because of my credit rating.

Thank you in advance.

The company has claimed they have been dormant since 2008/9, and recently applied to be struck off.

Start with contesting the application to strike off.
  • Sorry Aquamania but what company claims to be dormant? Thank you

Blair, Oliver & Scott is like Metropolitan Collection Services.

These are just internal debt recovery departments of their respective banks. B,O&S is Bank Of Scotland/Halifax and MCS is part of HSBC.

See recent media stories about banks sending out demands in the name of third party debt collectors.

OP - do you have written conformation the debt was repaid? If so, send copies to the CRAs to get them to raise the issue with the lender concerned, HBoS.

  • No, I can trace it back through my bank statements but they never sent me any written confirmation - always promises that they were going to do so but nothing...
