Where to start with packing :(

Ask friends/relatives/neighbours for some removal firm recommendations.
Declutter a room at a time with a bag for rubbish, a bag for charity shop, and a box for stuff that isn't needed for now and can be stored somewhere rather than cluttering the home during viewings. You need the place to look bigger and tidier without looking empty, so you may want to store away some extra furniture too.Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0 -

It's even better when you have loads of stuff in a small space because they'll pack the day before you move and you can live normally until then. Otherwise you end up with boxes all over the place for ages and run out of space to put full boxes.
I agree with using a BAR firm but, would also caution that you should go on recommendations.
My firm was BAR registered. Despite me confirming the date for my packing / move with 2 phone calls and a written acceptance of their quote, on the day they were due to pack me they hadn't turned up by 930am. I rang them and it was abundantly clear they hadn't put my job into the book. By lunchtime 2 guys turned up - one who had been pulled off another job, and another who had had his leave cancelled.
They did a fab job, to be fair to them, but at the end of the day they asked what time the movers were due the following day. I said I presumed early but hadn't been told. They said I had to ring the office for a time! So I rang the office and was told they basically hadn't decided what time they were going to turn up. I soon put them straight on that one
Again, the service of the chaps on the day was good but I post this simply to say that BAR is not a badge of reliability in all ways ...0
