Lock change after moving

After a house move should you change the locks on the external doors?
I've asked my insurer who said they won't pay for the lock changed unless you've lost keys etc.
I've asked a local locksmith for a cost of changing 2 locks/barrels on PVC multi lock dots and been quoted £100 or £140 to have then both as this same key (preferable for convenience), doors this seem reaSonable cost? Seems expensive to me, not sure how much actual locks are, if easy to replaced myself?
Thanks

A new "Euro" lock barrel costs about £10, and can be changed in approximately 2 minutes per barrel.Well life is harsh, hug me don't reject me.0

Wow is that right! Not sure what exact type is, it's the type where you push the handle up first to lock, and it's multi point up and down the door.
So just from B&Q, screwfix etc? Is this still ok for the insurance that I fit them though also?0 -
Its a euro lock easy to do just remove it and make sure you measure each side so you get correct replacement - many videos on youtube will help0

Should you? Depends. Do you think there's a risk of a set of the old keys being in the possession of people who you'd prefer not to have them?
Insurance? Why on earth would insurance pay?0 -

Yes most people change the locks when they move in to a new place. Who knows how many keys are kicking around with the sons best mate, grandma down the street, the neighbors for holidays, the dog walker, etc.
As said its a £20 fix you can do easily.
Take the lock out, leave someone in the house,go to lock place, get replacement lock in correct size ( because you have the old lock with you) replace new lock.
Why would the insurance co pay for a new lock?63 mortgage payments to go.
Zero wins 2016 😥0 -
Its so easy to change the barrell yourself, as long as you get the right size, its a simple 2 minute job. You don't need the whole lock changed for just a key change. A locksmith is only really needed if the lock is broken.0

Good idea on taking out the barrel/key bit and then going to get a new one. Where quoted I goto please, and also how would I get the same key to be used?0

DIY! The barrel is held in with 1 or 2 screws. Look at the side of the door by the lock, remove screws, slide barrel out, measure and replace it. look on Toolstation website for a replacement, when it arrives, swap with the existing one.
Even I managed it, so it must be simple! Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!0 -
