The Note will have the same tech/toys as the Cumquat you mentioned. The C-Max is available with self parking and electric rear blinds etc so if it is toys you want a car that parks itself could be a lot more useful than being able to go through mud it will never see.

Really dislike the shape/design of the note and c-max...

Because the Cherokee is a real looker?

Originally you were going for these cars because of the height, it was pointed out that other cars are better suited to the purpose and provide the height.

Then it is because of the toys and again, others do more and fit your needs better

Now it is looks. If you really want to buy a Chelsea tractor then do it. Sounds like you have convinced yourself that is what you want even if it isn't what you need.

Skoda Yeti is a right box of frogs but would do just what you need. Remember if you are in it, you aren't looking at it.

C4 Picasso likewise. Basically for London driving and wanting something economical you couldn't have picked a worse shortlist - what is does show is the type of car you actually want to buy. Given that is the case, just go for it.

    Thanks for your response.

The wife likes the feeling of being higher up and the ease of putting the kids into the car at a higher hight.

Might consider an estate, depending on what options are available?
From one review I have seen, the Skoda Octavia seems to meet most of our requirements?
I got an Octavia estate when our second child arrived, it's got a massive boot, plenty of space in the back and cheap to buy and service.

I got the petrol vRS which isn't exactly good on mpg but I don't do a lot of miles and it comes with a decent selection of toys and gadgets.

Lol for me it is the looks, power and economy that matters most to me however all the practical points are from the misses side...

Maybe for me, economical is anything above 45mpg combined as currently we get 28mpg...

Driving round London in a 4x4 will not get you anything like 45mpg!

non of what you picked will return that though.

They are also slower and heavier than smaller cars with the same engines. How much power do you need in London?

As I said, if that is what you want then go for it but there is no point in getting a diesel for in town driving or so little mileage so the Cherokee would be a nightmare.

The 1.6T ecoboost C-max for example is a second and half faster to 60 and is much less likely to have issues as well as returning much better mpg (official figure is 10mpg more than the Jeep)

The 1.4 TSI Skoda is comparable in both but would cost you a lot less to run a 5p less per litre of fuel.

All depends if you are set on buying with your heart not your head!
