Who supplies my gas?

Recently moved and have no idea who supplies my gas.
Tried calling the helpline and gave meter number, they had no supplier on record?
Tried about 7 suppliers none of them supply.
Checked documentation from previous owner, just marked as Not Known.
Anything else I can try?
It's annoying as I suspect I will not be on the best tariff and being winter don't want to wait 6 months and get stung by a huge bill.

Have you called the M number enquiry line? 0870 608 1524, with your address they should be able to help you. If there is no supplier existing I would suggest applying to whoever you want to take over the supply and see how that goes. At best it will go through without an issue, at worst your existing supplier will object and you'll get an answer to your riddle.
Just out of interest is the property you've moved in to a relatively new build or has it recently had work done? Sounds like the MPRN might have been assigned incorrectly.0 -
is it a new build ? could be a shiperless supply0

Tried the M helpline, said they had nothing on record.
Property is 10 years old. Tried taking my old supplier but for some reason they didn't actually do anything apart from close my account at the old property.0 -

Make sure you have proof of your start reading; you don't want to be stung for the previous owner's usage.Are you for real? - Glass Half Empty??

Could be one of the following:
* Delivered through an IGT
* The address information held may be incorrect (a common problem is the national database holds the temporary plot address and this was never updated when the new address was finalised).
I agree with checking the enquiry line. If you have access to both your Meter Serial Number and MPRN, this should help. I cannot imagine the site remaining shipperless for 10 years, although I suppose it is possible.0 -
Well I spoke to Scottish Power who supply the electricity and got them to switch to a better tariff, also asked about the gas and started a transfer. 2 hours later they said the switch was complete for both gas and electric.
On logging in I can see they have meter readings for both from a few months back so looks like the readings were being recorded somewhere. Just need to see what the bill is like in January!0
