G24 Parking Charges

Hi all first thread iv written on ANY forum so I apologise in advance if I have broken some sort of rule!
Basically I have received 2 charges from G24, both for 12 minute over stays in a 3 hour free parking area and only a couple of days apart.
I have read up on all the advise and from what I can gather since G24 have now joined IPC rather than the BPA appealing is basically a waste of time and the best thing to do is ignore all future letters and not respond at all?
I seem to be reading some conflicting advise, some saying ignore completely as to avoid accepting any sort of contract and others saying do not ignore.
Again something else I read is that if the signs are old BPA ones (which they are) I should just take some photos and keep them filed with any future letters?
Just realised I should also add that I am the keeper not the driver.

OK. Give us some real info
    Dates of tickets if windscreen
    Dates of NtKs
Have you got photos of signs? Post them on tinypics or photobucket.
    Read the NEWBIES sticky

Non- contractual cases can still be won at IAS.

Ah sorry didn't realise how much detail I had missed off!
Both tickets were from an ANPR camera and sent through the post. One for November 18th and issued December 1st and one for 24th November and issued 3rd December.
I dont have an actual photo yet but found this article online 'salfordstar.com/article.asp?id=1568' which contains an image of the current sign.(I will be taking a photo next visit!)

Noticed the sign doesn't mention anything about the IPC who they are now a member of according to the letter.

Have a read of coupon-mad's newbies thread. There is lots of good information there. But also hurry up and get pics of the current signs before they update them.

You could try my suggested appeal from this thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5129399

I hope that they are not trying to claim contractual parking charge, but if they are and the signs are old BPA ones, they could be stuffed for IAS.

Get your initial appeal to the PPC in though before the deadline.

They are trying to claim contractual parking charge.
Just seen your appeal which looks good, think I will use it for my initial appeal, is there anything else you would suggest I add for my particular case? maybe something like ' I would also like to add that on the letter I received from you it states that you are a member of the 'IPC' from an image of the sign I have obtained from car park in question it states that you are a member of the 'BPA' not the 'IPC' can I ask that you verify which is correct?

With G24 and an overstay PCN, whether to bother with IAS or not depends on the signage:

Look carefully, which one is yours, out of the 2 distinct types of sign?
If it's the one which doesn't even state on the sign what happens if a person stays longer than 3 hours then a carefully worded IAS appeal has a chance of working. You would need to run it by us and also attach your evidence (a picture of the signage wording).

Also did you keep the envelopes - did G24 send the Notices 1st class, or can't you tell?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Unfortunately I didn't keep the envelopes and I was unaware of the 14 day time limit until I began to read up on appealing! (the mrs almost paid them!) I am hoping to get some photos today as at the minute the only one I have is from 'salfordstar.com/article.asp?id=1568' (sorry cant post a proper link!) I'm 99% sure that this is the sign still in use as the layout seems very familiar from memory but I will confirm this.
Thanks for your replies guys, been very helpful so far!

Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

    Good news!
The day after receiving the letter I sent an email to the management team of the centre. I basically just explained the situation, that she was unaware of the limit and she has been shopping there since before the car park rules changed and explained that she was only late as she has our 1 month old daughter with her now. After more than a week with no response I assumed that the address was either dead or the email was being ignored but they responded today saying due to the circumstances they will have them both cancelled! Result! :)
Guess its always worth trying to contact the contractors as well as the PPC.
Thank you all very much for the help!

    Good morning Dean,

Please accept my apologies for the late reply, I was away last Thursday and Friday and had already requested that your complaint should be investigated. I believe your partner has also made a comment on our Facebook page. May I ask that any future complaints are sent directly to myself rather so they can be investigated immediately.

On this occasion (both penalty charges,) I have requested to be cancelled, could you forward me the penalty charge notice reference number and or the vehicle registration.

For the past two years our car parks have offered 3 hours free parking (1 hours no return) on Rossall Way and Pendleton Way. Market Way is 2 hours free and 1 hour no return. We believe the signage is adequate, however I can understand why your partner after having a new baby would not necessarily have noted this, so as a gesture of goodwill, I will arrange for these charges to be cancelled.

If there is anything else I can assist you with please do not hesitate to contact me.

Seems like a nice enough guy luckily, I would assume that's not always the case!

A decent response, except the bit about it being a penalty charge. When you reply you could point out that penalty charges are illegal and all you have been sent is a parking charge notice, but only do this after you have had written canecellation of the charges.
