Warranty On Insurance Repairs

As in the title, a car in the family was run into during the bad weather in Jan 2010. Damage was to the o/s front wing and passenger door, the car was repaired under the other drivers insurance at an approved repair center.
Roll on forward to last week, and some severe electronic maladies came to the surface, severe enough for the local man to recommend we take it to a main dealer for a full diagnostic analysis.
The main dealers prognosis is that crash repairs undertaken previously have not re-sealed the cabin from water ingress, water has come into the car over the years around the door pillar area, and travelled down the wiring loom and into a control box mounted around the door hinge area, causing corrosion of said box's loom connections and areas of the circuit board resulting in its failure. On lifting of the carpet and false floor in the passenger well, there is also a pool of water swilling about that has collected and damaged the underside of the false floor and carpet.
Main dealers estimate for repairs is around £1200-£1500, they will have to fit the new electronics box as it has to be programmed to the chassis.
So whats the opinion, worth pursuing? any advice welcome before I tackle the Insurance Broker in the morning.

If you had claimed from your own Insurance it would be a lot easier as they're liable for the quality of the repairs.
As you've claimed from the other party it becomes more difficult.
Have the main dealer confirmed the damage and more importantly exactly what has caused it?
Is this a french car by any chance?0 -
Hi Dacouch, it was done through our insurance but the other party paid.
They've only confirmed water damage in writing at the moment, which is very apparent looking at the circuit board and wireing loom connector, as well as the small lake under the floor! It wasn't my local "friendly" Main Dealer who I have a very good relationship with, but one local to where it failed, I've fetched it nearer to home yesterday for that reason.
No a German car built in Britain0
