Repaying Virginmedia for the box you use when cancelling with them

Hi all,
I recently called Virignmedia to cancel my additional box I currently pay for (V+ HD) as I no longer have an additional tv in my house and was then directed to their website to read their terms and conditions of my contact which states should i cancel this I would need to return the box or pay £125. I am unable to return the box as it was dropped down my stairs by my girlfriend and shattered as a result, I then took it to the local recycling depot. Does anyone know of any way I can get round paying the £125 fee please? Many thanks

Sorry no, it is the property of Virginmedia, they do take a long time to claim it back in many cases. Usually send out a bag to put it in.0

buy one off ebay and return it to them ?0

What sort of box is it?0

But the card is code matched its own box, Virgin will see they do not match even if you return your own card with the box you buy.0

I strongly doubt they send each box to forensics, if its an old box it probably will be chucked. I had quite a collection of their boxes at one time, they said they'd come and collect it and never did.
If OP can tell me the sort of box I've probably got one he can have.0 -
As long as the box is in working order, this won't matter. Returning the "shattered" original box, on the other hand….donnac2558 wrote: »the card is code matched its own box, Virgin will see they do not match even if you return your own card with the box you buy.0 -
Thanks for all your responses guys. I am currently looking on eBay for a potential saving on the £125 I will be charged by Virginmedia. It was a V+ HD box so there are being sold at a similar cost though unfortunately0
