    Yes you help them out because if they're elderly they're probably trying it on. I think Princess are about the only company that do this, I can't think of any others and I didn't know until one of my customers came in to cancel wanting all their money back and after ringing Princess I found out they could have all their money back. If your mum is the lead passenger go with her as they can't deal with you alone, don't jump in all guns blazing just be calm and say due to circumstances my mum would like to cancel her cruise and we would like a full refund as per t+cs. They should then refund the deposit as she had paid it, onto her card or cash. Let us know how you go on.

    I agree with steph (I'm an ex travel agent). It is very unusual to be able to get a refund like this so it may very well be the person in the agency made a wrong assumption .

    Go in with whoever signed the booking form with a print out of the conditions -and next time make sure they book somewhere that bothers to check the conditions before giving their clients duff info at best - or who try it on at worst.

    It may have been the case at one time, but the current cancellation policy at Princess seems to be full refund if cancelled more than 180 days in advance, loss of deposit if cancelled between 90 and 179 days. See clause 32.

    Yeah its princess. It was booked for may next year so definitely within the cancellation period. I will go round n have a look at their paperwork tomorrow see it for myself. My parents have done so much for me and I hate to see them get rolled over was just looking for some impartial advice before I jump in n try to help. Thank you!

    Hope they get the money back.

    If you really want to help them then look at the Cruise thread and get them to book through the many USA TA.

    IIRC the cruise lines refund all monies-no quibble about 90 days before sailing date.

    I got our Alaskan cruise at 50% cheaper than UK agents ;)

    I looked on Cruise Compete then asked for quotes via email.

    The cruise I wanted (Holland America) said they would not book a UK resident at the US$ prices (as do some of the other US cruise lines).

    I found a TA who could do that for me-no problems

    Cost $800 each instead of £800 each.

    Lets hope it applies to the t+cs that applied when the cruise was actually booked and not now.

    If it don't work in person try on Facebook. If I have a problem with anything I'm finding writing on Facebook seems to help more than anything lately
    :T:T :beer: :beer::beer::beer: to the lil one :) :beer::beer::beer:
  • I'm no legal eagle but surely if they have it in writing that they can cancel then surely it should be the case, unless they have a subsequent letter stating that the terms have changed and they would of signed a new one?
  • If you have any proof about it then you should do the complained.
