Treating mould in the bedroom

I have a small area of mould by the window in the bedroom. Has anyone got any idea for the best treatment. Is there a particular brand of spray or anything to use ?

Where about's is the mould. I recently discovered some on the sealant/ mastic and found it much quicker to just replace. Tried different mould sprays have yet found one which works.
  • I have PVC windows and it is the bottom left wall/frame where it is on the wall paper. We get condensation on the windows with it been the cold weather.

I had this problem and I used thin bleach to kill the mould. Then I bought Kilrock moisture trappers which drawns in loads of moisture to stop it happening again. Smaller, cheaper and quieter than a de-humidifier and so far it is really working.
  • I'd recommend spraying the area with Dettol mould & mildew remover, leaving it to work (with the window open for ventilation) then srcubbing with warm water on a sponger to remove, wiping dry with kitchen towel. I think the Dettol stuff is mainly bleach anyway.

Also, these are cheap & very good to eliminate the condensation (one per windowsill), which should avoid it recurring.

I use this - absolutely fantastic - works in minutes and keeps the mould away for months. It literally eats the mould, you don't even need to wipe it away. Usually buy it from Lakeland but Amazon have it too.

Astonish Mould and Mildew cleaner is only 99p to £1 from most discount stores and works as well as any of them. Despite all the preventative treatments and special paints, it always comes back, so a quick squirt of Astonish now and again sorts it out cheaply. Wear gloves as it does ruin your skin

Prevention is better than cure, so track down the source of the moisture and improve ventilation. Mould only forms if the relative humidity is above 70%.

Trickle vents and night settings on windows help as does leaving the bedroom door open when sleeping (moisture can spread through the whole house). It's good to use a squeegee on the windows in the morning to remove the condensate – this will allow more water to condense on the windows (which is preferable to the walls).

The mould I get in bedroom windows I just wash down with a mild bleach solution and then make sure I keep the room ventilated.

If it's walls or a ceiling - we had incident part bathroom ceiling I used tea tree oil few drops on piece cotton wool then wipe, bit time consuming but did the trick xx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx
