  • By the way, I do not always have the option of getting the permit that comes with the particular family member. there are 2 permits, but these are in the two cars that they have.

Only the Councils concerned can give a definitive answer, as it does vary from area to area. Naming the locations could help someone local to advise, but you should be able to get an answer from the Council if you are politely persistent.

Typically, people residing in permit schemes can get 'visitor permits' to allow for parking of such vehicles... these may be provided free (limited quantities) or may be purchaed... This should be clear from the parking permit scheme rules booklets that your relatives should probably already have (or be able to get from their Council).

You should know that parking on double yellows (without no loading kerb lines) is permissible - providing you are not causing an obstruction or are too close to a junction. It's in the booklet that came with the BB.

NB Southend (where you live?) has resident parking schemes e.g. http://www.southend.gov.uk/info/200361/car_parks_parking_and_permits/333/residents_parking_permits and it seems from http://www.southend.gov.uk/info/200363/blue_badge/144/using_your_blue_badge that Blue Badge holders cannot park in them (but displaying a visitors permit would allow anyone to do so).

I have seen statements on other Council websites that BB holders are allowed to park in residents parking bays with no time restriction (as per in pay and display bays). But on others you can't find much at all!

You will need to assure yourself that you will be parking legally on your visits ... we can't do that for you as much as we'd like to!
