Winter Motorbike Gloves

Hi

I bought some new Winter motorbike gloves last week as my old ones weren't standing up to the current cold climate. I tried them out for the first time today and they are actually worse at keeping my fingers warm than my old crappy gloves!

If I return them am I entitled to a refund? There doesn't seem to be anything faulty with the gloves (Richa Cold Protect GTX), it's just that they didn't protect me from the cold like I expected, especially disappointing as they are called Cold Protect!

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Bought from: Lamba Motorcycles
Price: £99.99

  • Did you buy instore or online? If online you have a minimum of 14 days after receiving them to tell the seller you wish to return them, and then 14 days after that to return them for a full refund. If you bought them instore then you have to check what their return policy is.

Also, be aware if bought online the retailer can now deduct a amount for usage if that goes beyond what you can reasonably do in terms of inspection in a bricks & mortar shop.
  • Thanks for the information.

I bought them in store. I can't seem to see anything about returns on the website so I guess I'll go in on Monday and have a chat with someone.

None of them do, winter gloves won't keep out the ice cold wind chill at 60mph but help more with the wet.

Stopping the wind chill is the biggest factor to keeping your fingers from falling off, heated grips help as does thermal linings, layers rather than one pair, but the best protecting from the wind chill in winter riding is these https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=motorbike+handguards&biw=1920&bih=917&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=2imMVL-QCqrV7QaY7IGwDw&sqi=2&ved=0CF4QsAQ

I think it may be that you expect to much from a pair of gloves alone.

Can you not get thermal wraps for your hands that you can wear under the gloves? Would the pros not wear fire proof gloves under the Kevlar ones?

Yes, I do Neil, commuting and fun in the summer but this exact thread is why I leave the bike in the garage most of the winter.

I am fortunate that I have a car too because it really is uncomfortable riding in these temps, your fingers are numb and your face freezes, takes the fun right out the equation.

I have heated grips and they are amazing. No gloves on their own are going to be perfect, as they're limited with how much insulation they can have before they become too bulky to be safe.

  • This sort of thing wasn't easily available when I was riding a motorbike:

and they seem to get good reviews. (I know that you can't always trust the retailers website reviews but these or something similar might be worth looking into)

If not protected your hands are in a -60c wind, therefore heat grips are the way to go + heated clothing is the way to go, also you must ensure your kidneys are covered.
