uninstall and reinstall avast, should take care of it...

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple

Remove via control Panel.

Where is the Control Panel.

How to remove Avast via Contol Panel.
http://security.iyogi.com/troubleshoot/how-to-uninstall-reinstall-avast-antivirus.html

If not successful, use the Avast removal utility.
http://www.avast.com/en-gb/uninstall-utility

Re boot the computer and install Avast again.

Alternatively, if the problem is recent, try a system restore point.
