US customs officials.
Seems they are universally known as being so un-user friendly that America was/is trying to get them better press.
The man that dealt with us when we arrived in Florida almost made me want to immediately hit the floor in a prone position because he was so scary and unpleasant.
Because we have two surnames in our family, we were told on the plane to fill out green forms in both names but the customs bloke got really angry and told us we should not have done that and ripped them up in front of us. I apologised and expained I'd never flown before and so didn't know what the correct procedure was and I went with what the airline told me.
He was pretty nasty tbh and my youngest was terrified with the way he stared at us all (kids included) and raised his voice to tell us we had done wrong.0 -
Hey, I'm a bus driver and I'm miserable.......when passengers get on and abuse me, other than that I smile at people and I'm polite.
You will find everyone, no matter where you go can be the same. I shop all over the place and find some really nasty so and so's behind the counter.
As Chika said, try not to stereotype
And you poor lads have split shifts, lates then an early, "rest day" working working 10days straight...Hubby was one for 3 yrs. then there are the poeple that moan because you are late, despite the fact there are roadworks all over town and no one has let you out of a bus stop. You get the people paying either all with 5p's ot £20 notes first thing in the morning. Queue pushers, drunks, school kids......
Yup I think bus drivers get a raw deal from passengers! The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Member 10

But is that the job or the person?
Back to bus drivers, most I've encountered are lovely, some even have a sense of humour:rolleyes: . OK, there's the occasional bad apple, like the one who hated school children so much he decided to take DD and friend on an illicit journey dropping them miles from anywhere on a cold rainy evening during their first week at secondary, but i tend to find that if you are polite, then they are too. Same with shop assistants, receptionists, bin-men, bank clerks, the chap on the toll booth....And that's human nature - not the job!0 -
I would have to say the agents that sit at the other end of the line at phone call centres. They have to sit there, often tightly packed together with a manager looking over their shoulder making sure they get through x calls per day. They have to take whatever the customer dishes out to them, they can't really react in case they lose the custom which would get them negative marks from the above mentioned managers. I think having a calm head should be a pre-requisite for the job, but I can honestly understand how they can get grumpy and want to vent.
I've usually been quite calm and understand when calling call centres, sometimes I'm firm and un-moving but never impolite and I try not to raise my voice. Sadly last week that all went out the window when I was on the phone to TalkTalk, would have been Ok if the problem was with my line but it was with mum's and so I was under added pressure to get it fixed. I started shouting at the agent, nothing rude but I suppose the recordings may show it a bit aggressive. She told me she'd disconnect the call, but in my defence I did then apologise several times to her and return to being calm. Not sure if this incident had anything to do with me being kept on hold for over 20 minutes later, but I'd fully appreciate it from the agent's point of view if it was.
H.Know me for who I am, not for who I say I am.0 -
Some i have encountered are...
Procurement officers (i work in IT sales, even when their management tell them to buy stuff from me, they still resent it and make it a nightmare)
Receptionists at solicitors offices (dealing with one right now for house move, everything MUST be done at thier pace, even if it means you have to wait until they have finished their cuo of tea - god forbid anyone who asks them to get a move on!)
Lapdancers at Spearmint Rhino (ok controversial one, but some of them go round acting SO miserable even though they earn around £1000 a night from mugs like me and my frieinds!! Cheer up or go home, no one is forcing you to stay!)
thats my 10p's worthI never missed a payment :T , I paid off all my credit cards :T , I paid of all my loans :T , i have a work mobile :T - but am now "medium" credit risk0 -

Ha! I knew some muppet would say this.
It's a shame that the ignorant people that assume accountants are boring exist.
I find that the only people that ever assume I do a boring job are the ones that are too thick to understand what an accountant actually does for a living - like the ones that say we count beans :rotfl: counting is something we don't usually do!
As somebody said above, this is an argument waiting to happen.0 -
Accountants are the life of the party. People always have a laugh on them.
Insurance companies always add a premium to a life insurance for an accountant....they know how interesting, adventure filled and adrenaline fuelled their lives are......
If anyone disagrees that accountants wear grey suites, star trek socks and have bad breath - think again!
James Bond is an accountant.0
