hot radiators but no hot water

Hi all,
I fitted a new radiator and all heating now works fine.
On the down side I have no hot water, ironically this has landed me in hot water.
Boiler is old but reliable, all pipes seem hot, the cylinder is new and all pipes feel cold.
I have tried to flush the hot line with cold from mains via washing machine piping. The cylinder made lots of gurgling noises and taps spluttered bus still only getting cold from the hot tap.
Any advice would be appreciated as I am long overdue for a shave

Might be the zone valve not switching open to allow the hot water side to work normally
May look something like this

If it's like the one in the link then the valves small black tab should motor across from A to B when selecting hot water0 -
what bridgedino says, i had the opposite when i moved last month, hot water but no central heating. The valve had failed one way, and been swapped around to allow hot water to bath in, but not heating (previous owner was 25st so prob didnt feel the cold)
My valve was £45 new on eBay, and cost £60 to get fitted at short notice. My one had a small mechanical 'arm' that allowed you to switch between HW and CH0 -
Flushing the taps will do nothing. Did you drain the system when you fitted the rad? It maybe air locked, if the cylinder is new ensure a gate valve isn't left shut.0

Have you bled the heating coil in your hot water cylinder ?0

I was able to get the how water working not long after posting by connecting mainswater (cold) to the now unused hot washing machine pipe, flushing the system through at 20 second bursts for 5 times seems to have pushed the airlock through.
I have now sadly noticed a small and slow drip from the new towel radiator valve. Hoping to find a solution that does not involve draining the system and repeating this whole saga.
I know vaseline will seal a low pressure leak on a nut but guessing only short term, is plumbers mait an option?0 -
Give it a wee tweek with a spanner. Often new fittings can sometimes weep after the initial fitting through expanding and contracting with the initial first usage.0
