Full Time Student No Income..

Hello,

I am from the EU and I have lived and worked in the UK for 2 years 8 months. I left my job I started university in September and was able to get a tuition fee loan only. I receive no maintenance loans, grants, bursaries or benefits. I have zero income right now and my savings are depleted, I am now living on the generosity of friends.

I need to live in the UK for 3 years before I can get a maintenance loan from student finance (I will be eligible in April 2015). I tried the .gov calculator for some kind of benefits but it doesn't work for full time students.

Am I entitled to any benefits to see me through until April? I can work part-time only (I have had many interviews with no success).

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Unless you are a lone parent or disabled, you have no entitlement to benefits as a full time student. I doubt the university access fund will assist either because this is not an unforeseen situation.

Then if you had no income and no means of supporting yourself why would you give up your job and sign up for the course?

You need to try every business you possibly can for part time work... Bars, restaurants, hotels...fast food... shops..night clubs... this time of year especially is good for bar work and would give you some cash if only for a couple of weeks..
